Laven Sowell passes

Does anyone know what happened to Mr. Shirey who was Sowell' s predecessor in the music program. Not to knock Sowell but Shirey was much more creative and did a superior job. I stayed in the music program for 1 year after he left and then stopped participating. No fun anymore.

After a little research I found that Mr. Shirey passed away in Nov. 2009.  He was choral director of Texas Christian University for over 30 years.  He began his career at Edison.  I was in the boys glee club as a 9th grader and I thought Mr. Shirey was the best music director ever.  He took no nonsense from anyone and he accepted nothing but our best effort.  You can read more at, http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/69864717.html
