04-02-2005 - Next Meeting Scheduled/Last Meeting News When: Tuesday, May 10th, 2005 at 6:30 P.M.
Where: Diamond Jack's Restaurant, 3609 East 51st Street
(east of Harvard, north side of 51st Street)
We had a great turn-out for our last meeting, March 29, at the home of Jane (Dickey) Johnson. Kermit Holderman even popped in all the way from CA to join the meeting. Also attending were Jack Wimbish, Ben & Kathy (Bentley) Gorrell, DeeAnne (Potter) Short, Ginny (Dunn) Furr, Gayle (Rippy) Campbell, Bruce O'Connor, Susan (Cochran) Koenig, Lady (Rich) Brown, Larry Miner, Jim Barnes, Archie Harrison, Marian (Eskridge) Sexton, and myself. (I apologize if I missed someone...you should've added your name to the sign-in sheet.)
Plans are beginning to take some shape. Registration cost will include dinner both Friday and Saturday nights, and lunch on Saturday. Arrangements are being made for us to have access to and a tour of Edison, which has undergone extensive remodeling and additions since we last roamed those halls. Gayle Rippy Campbell is now a teacher at Edison, so she has agreed to be our 'in'. There is talk of an assembly......anyone who would like to participate needs to make those desires known, plus any fun ideas for the assembly.
DeeAnne Potter Short has graciously agreed to be in charge of decorations. Marian (Eskridge) Sexton is our website guru and has spent many, many slave-labor hours on this to keep you informed and entertained. Jack Wimbish and Ben & Kathy (Bentley) Gorrell will be working on registrations (Kathy also found our wonderful location at Post Oak Lodge!). Mike Bickel, who lives in Manchester, MO, is doing an incredible job tracking down some of our 'lost' classmates...this is a tedious job and we are truly indebted to him. Archie Harrison is going to be working with our DJ (Tom Emerson of Infinity Music....he's the best!) for music selection......I have set up a poll on this website (click on the Poll Booth link to the left <---) for your music preferences). There's also rumor of a 'live' performance. And, of course, there will be some contests, awards, etc......FUN!! Early response to our registration letters and emails have been good and the enthusiasm is spreading.
We encourage everyone living in the vicinity to join us for the next meeting. Classmate Larry Zankel is the owner of Diamond Jack's.....please join us, share your interests and ideas for the reunion, fellowship with other classmates, and it wouldn't hurt to spend a few bucks on a Diamond Jack's meal either. We hope to see you there on the 10th of May!!
